BUMBLE’S Musical Marathon – a 12-hour feast of entertainment in July – raised more than £7,000 for the mobile chemotherapy unit that makes weekly visits to Minehead.

The money came from sponsorship, including £1,000 from clarinetist David Thorpe alone, concert ticket sales, refreshments, raffle and donations collected throughout the day.

A cheque for £300 from the Minehead and District Lions brought the total to £7082.05 was presented to Hope for Tomorrow, the charity that provides the Bumble service.

The musical marathon was held in The Regal Theatre where free musical recitals were held during the day in the bar and a concert was given on the stage in the evening.

It featured the specially-formed Bumble Band, Urban Voice Choir, dancers from the L A Dance Academy and award winning guitarist Darren Hodge.
