WEST Somerset builder Hal Bretherton has put his head on the line to raise money for national brain injury charity Headway.

Mr Bretherton had his hair and beard removed in a sponsored shave in The Lion Inn, Timberscombe, to take his fund-raising total past £3,000.

The event was hosted by publican Malcolm Passmore and saw Mr Bretherton collect £1,200 on the night, which he added to £470 donated by some of his friends at The Britannia Inn, Alcombe.

His hair will be sent to the Little Princess Trust, which provides real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment.
