MINEHEAD’S bucket and spade brigade were on parade on the seafront on Saturday when nearly 40 volunteers tackled the winter build-up of sand ready for summer holiday visitors.
Organised by Minehead Events Group (MEG), the spring clean concentrated on seating areas and access for buggies and wheelchairs.
“Despite the efforts of West Somerset Council and the Environment Agency, we could see that after the winter storms another big sand-clearing volunteer event was needed,” said MEG organiser Cllr Karen Mills. “A huge thank you to everyone!"
