Cineworld opened its ten-screen cinema in Yeovil this week with a champagne reception having been held on Tuesday for invited guests.
Guests included officials from Yeovil Town Council and South Somerset District Council as well as representatives of the local business community.
After having enjoyed a drink in the reception area, guests were taken into screen number two, where general manager Steven Steele introduced the Yeovil management team.
The Mayor of Yeovil, Councillor Bridget Dollard gave a brief speech before cutting the ribbon, which was made up of film celluloid stretched between two reels.

Latest plans for a West Somerset tidal lagoon supported by MP Rachel GilmourCine-UK chief executive Steve Wiener also also addressed the guests, explaining that the slightly delayed opening was because he did not want customers to turn up with nowhere to park.
He denied the delay was a result of him having been on holiday on the intended opening date, which amused the audience.
A trailer reel featuring samples of forthcoming films was shown before brunch was served.
As a final attraction, guests were invited to join staff members for a guided tour behind the scenes of the cinema.
