A POLICE officer and a leading district councillor were soaked for a good cause when a school fete offered the chance to 'Sponge a Celebrity'. PC Keith Wigglesworth (right) and Cllr Bryan Leaker gamely joined in the fun at Minehead Middle School PTA Summer Fair. A bumper number of stalls were organised by pupils and all children worked very hard running their stalls and clearing up afterwards. Stalls this year included coconut shy, beauty parlour, obstacle course and penalty shootout. Other activities included a balloon race and a grand draw with prizes donated by many local businesses. PTA Chairman, Andre Baker said: "This was the first summer fair many of this year's PTA committee had been involved with and it far exceeded all expectations. "The children all worked extremely hard, and it was wonderful to receive so much support and see the children having such a wonderful time." After the fair, a very entertaining Stars in their Eyes took place with children performing a variety of musical acts. This year's winners were Josh Furse and Josh Cox who performed as Girls Aloud. Mr Baker said the PTA wished to thank PC Wigglesworth, Cllr Leaker, all who volunteered to help and the local businesses who donated prizes.
