THERE was what organisers called “a major disappointment” at Brompton Regis Village Show – after a run-up of fine weather, outdoor activities had to be cancelled.
A severe weather warning affected the horse and dog shows among other popular attractions.
The organisers could not be sure that the marquees and tents would stand up to the gale force winds predicted.
But with true community spirit, many volunteers pitched in at short notice and worked very hard to take down the tents and transfer the show competitions, stalls and refreshments to the village hall.
The show was well attended and the cookery, flower, handicraft, vegetable and egg categories proved as popular as ever.
