ST Dubricius School in Porlock has been given £800 to spend on Exmoor-related activities ranging from walks to a residential course.
It was given by The Exmoor Society Coastal Group, which raises funds from talks and events throughout the year in order to make donations that will benefit the appreciation and conservation of Exmoor.
St Dubricius will use the money towards its Exmoor related activities, including as part of its weekly Forest School experience.
This involves taking the early years pupils onto Exmoor for walks, wildlife watching and outdoor learning,
The donation will also go towards the annual three-day residential course at The Pinkery Centre in Simonsbath for year four pupils. This will concentrate on getting the pupils through the John Muir Award, an environmental award scheme focused on wild places.
Carol Rawle, chairman of the society’s coastal group, presented the cheque to headteacher Chris Blazey.
* The Exmoor Society Coastal Group’s next event is an illustrated talk, ‘An Exmoor Farmer’s Wife and Much More’, given by Charmain Tucker in Porlock Village Hall at 7.30pm on May 29.
