MINEHEAD notched up their sixth win in a row as they beat promotion rivals Butleigh by three wickets in a high-scoring Division Three match on Saturday.

The match was dominated by two centuries - one from Butleigh's young opener Andy Garnsworthy and the other from Minehead's Pete Blyth, who batted through their entire innings for an unbeaten 138no.

Apart from them, although most batsmen got into double figures, no one on either side could get beyond 20.

Butleigh batted first and amassed 232-3, with Garnsworthy carrying his bat for 158 not out.

In reply, Minehead forged several strong partnerships with Blyth as the bowlers struggled to contain the batsmen on a hard and true wicket.

Butleigh spinner Mark Breary was the pick of the bowlers with 2-39 off 15 overs to keep his side in the game.

In the end, Minehead edged home with just two balls to spare and three wickets in hand.

With four matches to go, Minehead remain three points clear at the top of the table and tomorrow face a key game away to mid-table North Newton.
