ALLERFORD-based West Country Blacksmiths have designed and made this new award for the Get Home Safe charity.

The Ross Paterson Creative Writing Award will be presented annually to the winner of a new writing competition at Richard Huish College in Taunton in memory of Ross, who was killed in a traffic collision as he walked home from night out in the town.
The award has been specially designed and handmade to depict a hand holding a fountain pen and is wrapped in brass and mounted on a carved oak base.
Get Home Safe was founded by Ross’s aunt Helen Evans.
