BLACKSMITH Billy Hunter will be heading for a fall on June 1 – in a bid to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

A key member of the West County Blacksmiths team at Allerford, Billy will be making a sponsored solo free-fall skydive from 13,000 feet over Swindon to raise money for the society that has helped his grandmother through her illness.

“I’ve never done anything like this before and the guys at work think I’m crazy,” said 23-year-old Billy, who lives in Bridgetown.

“You have a day’s training and then go up and do the jump. I’m really looking forward to it, although it will probably be pretty scary. I just wanted to do something for this really good cause.”

Billy joined West Country Blacksmiths from school at 16 to start an apprenticeship in advanced welding and engineering and is now a fully qualified coded welder.
