AN insight into the world of the honey bee – and the Asian hornet that threatens it – will be on offer at the annual Bees and Honey Show in Minehead on Saturday (November 2).

An observation beehive will be set up so that visitors will be able to see its inner workings, and there are plenty of other activities to amuse the kids.

People will also be able to sample and buy honey and wax products – this year saw a good honey harvest.

Beekeepers will be on hand to answer questions, including about the Asian hornet that is a threat to all pollinators. One or two have been located in southern England and they are rife on the Channel Islands.

The Bees and Honey Show is at Minehead Methodist Hall between 11am and 4pm. Entry is free.
