VOLUNTEERS are needed to join in the Big Spring Beach Clean at Porlock Weir on Saturday (April 1).
The event is part of the nationwide Big Spring Beach Clean 2017, run by environmental charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) – around 400 beaches in the UK will get a clean-up in the coming weeks.
Marine litter and, especially, plastic waste in the oceans is a huge and increasing problem, and local beach cleaning is one way to make a small difference to the beaches, seas and wildlife.
All are welcome to take part on Saturday. Helpers will roll up their sleeves at 10.30am and the operation is expected to finish at around 12.30pm.
