A SERVICE of remembrance for all those who fell at the Battle of Jutland on May 31, 1916, was held at Watchet’s new war memorial.
The service marking the centenary was organised by members of the Watchet Remembrance Project Group (WRPG) last Tuesday, May 31.
It was particularly poignant for the people of Watchet because one of the fallen was Seaman Henry Lewis Davey, whose parents lived and worked in Swain Street.
Among those at the service was Henry’s great-niece Kay Preston.
The service was conducted by Catholic deacon the Rev Vincent Woods and attended by members of the project group, Royal British Legion and local residents.
