GOOD weather ensured a record fete day for Roadwater on July 27, both as a social and profitable event.

In all, £3,031 profit was made – only the second time the £3,000 barrier has been broken - and the money will aid the upkeep of the village hall and recreation ground and assist future projects.

The stalls and attractions proved popular and were well supported, while the dog show attracted plenty of entrants and provided entertainment for many onlookers.

The warm afternoon guaranteed that the tea room, ice cream, lemonade and strawberries and cream stalls were kept busy throughout the fete, as was the hot dog stand.

The Watchet British Legion Band enhanced the proceedings by providing the musical backdrop to the afternoon.

An evening barbeque and disco organised by Roadwater Cricket Club took place on the recreation ground and was a great success.

The fete committee extended their thanks to everyone for their effort and hard work in making the day such a success, particularly Adam Eggar and Viv Edwards. They are still appealing for someone to come forward to organise the fete next year – anyone interested should contact Steve or Julia Eggar on 01984 641056.
