THE family of a baby born with a cleft lip, have been so bowled over by the support they received, they are raising money to thank the organisations that helped them.
Little Evie Kingdon, aged four months, of Williton, was born with a unilateral cleft lip, but parents Charlotte Finch and Matt Kingdon are so grateful for the help they had from both Bristol Children’s Hospital and the South West Cleft Service team, they want to give something back.
They are having a games and raffle stall at Watchet Carnival fete on July 29, and raffle prizes have been flying in since Charlotte wrote to local businesses.
“We’ve had a great response but any raffle donations are still appreciated, and people can also contact me before the day to buy raffle tickets,” Charlotte said.
“We were initially absolutely devastated to find out our daughter was going to have this slight deformity. However, with the fantastic care and support we received from the [two teams], we got by and really don’t know how we would have, without their help and dedication,” she said.
Evie is due to have a lip repair operation in July: “The whole team in Bristol have been amazing, and we want to give something back,” said Charlotte. “We have set a target – we would like to raise of £1000, with everyone’s help.”
Money raised will go to the charity Above & Beyond, for Bristol hospitals, and will be divided between Bristol Children’s Hospital and the South West cleft team.
