EIGHT people from West Somerset were among over 35 individuals and couples from across Somerset to be awarded for their community work.

Five of the West Somerset people were able to attend a special ceremony to be presented with their awards by the chairman of Somerset County Council, Cllr William Wallace, at Taunton Rugby Club.

The other three will be given their awards locally.

Awards have gone to: Joan and Ron Barlow of Clatworthy, Philip Brimson, of Holford, Marcus Capel, of Wootton Courtenay, Phyllis Chidgey, of Williton, Peter Farmery, of Shurton, Roland Husebo, of Carhampton and Blue Anchor parish, and Peter Menneer, of Crowcombe.
