WEST Somerset residents will have the chance to show their support for the country's armed forces at a special flag-raising ceremony on Monday (June 23). The event outside West Somerset Council's headquarters in Killick Way, Williton will honour past and present members of the services. The council's chairman Cllr Stuart Dowding, who is also the authority's 'Champion for the Armed Forces' is inviting local people, council staff and fellow councillors to the ceremony, which will begin at 11am. The exhortation will be led by Royal British Legion members and representatives from 40 Commando, based in nearby Norton Fitzwarren, and HMS Somerset, to which the council is affiliated, have also been invited to attend.
