POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in Fownes Road, Alcombe, at 2.40am on Saturday morning.

The victim had been in Lloyds Bar prior to the attack and was walking home when she was attacked.

Her route had taken her along Friday Street, Townsend Road and Alcombe Road.

She was grabbed from behind by a man and ended up close to the playing fields during the assault.

The suspect is described as of Asian or Indian appearance, approximately 5 feet 10-11 inches tall with an athletic build.

He was either bald or had a shaved head, his face was clean shaven, and he was wearing a light blue polo-type shirt and jeans.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or knows who the suspect is.
