MINEHEAD Amnesty International Group is hosting a coffee morning at The Avenue Methodist Church in Minehead on Friday (December 10) to mark International Human Rights Day.

Latest plans for a West Somerset tidal lagoon supported by MP Rachel GilmourAs well as tea, coffee and cake, visitors will be able to sign letters and greetings cards to human rights defenders who are in prison or facing threats to their safety.
Amnesty’s Write for Rights Campaign 2021 includes ten cases from around the world where people have been unjustly imprisoned, tortured or harassed.
Amnesty members in Minehead have been writing letters on behalf of all the cases, but at the coffee morning they will be focusing in particular on the cases in China, Guatemala, Nigeria and Thailand.
