ALLOTMENT holders in Minehead went head to head in a horticultural challenge to find the best kept plot.

The annual contest is run by Minehead Town Council, which owns the six allotment sites in the town.

And the top of the crop from each site attended a ceremony in the town hall last Thursday where the Dick Collins Challenge Cup for the best kept allotment went to Stuart Bale, who has a plot at the Poundfield Road site.

He received his accolade, which included a £15 garden token and a certificate, from Minehead’s mayor Cllr Jean Parbrook.
