Here is a list of the planned road closures and road works in the West Somerset area in the new Year

STATION Road, Stogumber, will be shut between 8am and 6pm daily from January 5 to 11 to allow Barden Network Engineering to install fibre cabling on behalf of Openreach. It will affect the stretch between the High Street and Wood Lane junctions.

A TEMPORARY closure order has been issued for Tanners Hill, Huish Champflower, where Utility Services Ltd will be replacing poles for Openreach on January 4 between 9am and 3.30pm. The closure will run from the junction with Huish Cleeve Road northwestwards for 215 metres.

A NEW water main needs to be installed in Church Lane, Bicknoller, by Wessex Water, resulting in a closure of the road for 88 days from January 3 to March 31. It will be closed between the Taunton Road and Parsons Close junctions.

BARDEN Network Engineering will close the Beulah Chapel to Withiel Hill road, in Treborough and Old Cleeve, between 8am and 6pm daily from January 5 to 11 while it installs fibre cabling on behalf of Openreach. The closure will be effective from the junction with Beulah Chapel to Robbery Gate westwards for 1,289 metres.

OPENREACH will close Porlock Weir Road, Porlock, from a point 400 metres west of its junction with Allerpark Lane for 70 metres between 7am and 2pm on January 8 to allow it to replace poles.

A TEMPORARY 30 mph speed limit will be applied on the A358 Taunton Road, Williton, daily from 7.30am to 5pm from January 3 to 27 while Wessex Water arries out the installation of a new water main. The restriction, which will only apply when temporary traffic lights are in use, will be from a point 40 metres northwest of the Newton Lane junction for 150 metyres northwesterly.

AIRBAND Community Internet Ltd will carry out cabling and splicing works along West Bagborough Road, Terhill Lane, Kingston St Mar Road, and Cothelstone Road in the parishes of West Bagborough and Bishops Lydeard from January 2 to 16, resulting in 24-hour road closures. The closures will affect West Bagborough Road from the junction with New Road eastwards for 1,963 metres; Terhill Lane from the junction with Kingston St Mary Road northwards for 2,356 metres; Kingston St Mary Road from the junction with Cothelstone Road north westwards for 437 metres; and Cothelstone Road from the junction with Kingston St Mary Road northwards for 2,980 metres.
