THE Lions Club of Yeovil is holding its major fund raising event, the 32nd Fireworks Spectacular and funfair on Guy Fawke's Day, Tuesday, November 5th at the Yeovil Showground in Dorchester Road.

This long running annual Lions Club family event has grown in popularity over the years and this year it is expected to attract over 5,000 parents and children. During it's 32 year history, it has raised over £120,000 enabling Yeovil Lions to make significant donations to many local good causes.

During the past 12 months £5,000 has been given to the St. Margaret's Hospice Yeovil Appeal, £7,000 to the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance and £4,000 to C.L.I.C. (Cancer Leukaemia in Children). Major donations from this event will be made to Yeovil Heartbeat and the F.A.S.T. Appeal.

The Lions are continuing their "Safety First" policy by using a "Pains Fireworks" professional firing team to set off a 25-minute spectacular £5000 Ariel fireworks display, (£1,000 more than last year), which will be accompanied by music.

The ever popular Herbert's Funfair will have a new exiting Meteore ride this year plus the traditional dodgems, waltzer, parachute and children's rides and inflatables.

Hot food, drinks, doughnuts, traditional sweets, candyfloss and hot chestnuts will be available from 5.30pm when the gates open to the public.

The fireworks display will commence at 7.30pm. Admission to the event is £12 per vehicle including all occupants, walking £5 and walking children £3.

Car parking for 1,000 cars is available inside the showground and a special area is designated for disabled persons.
