RESIDENTS of Lower Mead Road, in Alcombe, have had their eyes down during lockdown – playing socially distanced bingo.

Their neighbour Neil Kendall has organised several bingo Sundays since lockdown began, including the VE Day celebration with a disco, with proceeds going to the Poppy Appeal.

Last Sunday, the residents held another game of bingo, from the safe distance of their gardens, to raise money for the Exmoor ward at Minehead hospital in memory of their friend and neighbour Ken Lewis, who passed away at the beginning of May.

A range of prizes were donated by residents, with the Minehead Co-op donating a box of groceries which was won by June Caswell.

Lesley Lewis said thank you very much to everyone for helping to raise £260.

Lynn Parry added: “These Sundays have been a great morale boost for all residents, and the next one is planned for the end of June for a charity chosen by the residents on the day.”
