With regard to the proposed felling and replacement of 12 trees in Minehead and the concern of the mayor Cllr Slade about their ongoing care, could not an “adopt a tree” scheme be considered?

I am sure there are businesses or individuals in the town who would be prepared to keep an eye on a neighbouring young tree, give it some water if parched, ensure any staking was kept in order etc, and generally provide TLC.

It is said that the country needs to urgently plant millions of trees to combat pollution and climate change. Surely Minehead can do its bit.
