SIR — It would be disastrous to build the new swimming pool on Minehead football ground as I believe that 75 per cent of local residents haven’t a clue where the ground is and 95 per cent of holidaymakers wouldn’t know, either.

Surely, the most sensible place to build the pool would be opposite the new hotel in Seaward Lane where every local resident who shops at the supermarket would see it every day and every visitor to Minehead would see it as they pass.

My view is that the football club venture will fail through lack of use whilst Seaward Lane would attract people on a regular basis.
