A-level students

rise to challenge

YEAR 13 students at West Somerset College celebrated an impressive set of results in their A-levels this week.

Youngsters achieved a 100 per cent A*-E pass rate and 52 per cent of the cohort gained at least one grade at A*-B. Some 19 per cent achieved all A*-B grades.

Some of the top students were Freya Broomfield with A*A*A; Mack Divit with A*A*A; Gaby Onody with A*A*A; Greg Horrobin A*AAB; and Fliss Heywood with A*ABBB.

A spokesperson for the college said: “The students have overcome significant challenges to their learning over the past two years and should rightly be proud of their achievements. Students sat a rigorous set of exams at the end of Year 13 in order to inform their final grades. We are proud of all of our students results and achievements, and wish them all well on the next stage of their journey.”

Some 97 per cent of students have so far secured their next steps beyond the college. Among those off to university are: Tom Bradbury - Law, Exeter; Tom Levett - Chemistry, Plymouth; Dexter Lintern - Medieval History, Winchester; Ethan Plenty - Business Management, Bournemouth; Sophie Wood - Maths and Philosophy, Bristol; Shahid Abraham - Anthropology, Bournemouth; Jack Lintern - Paramedic Science, Northampton.

The college wanted to congratulate all its Motor Vehicle level 3 cohort who worked exceptionally hard and completed their full course without any cancellation of examinations or assessments and achieved a 100 per cent pass rate.
