Pupils and staff at Stogursey CofE Primary School enjoyed a day of activities on the theme of ‘Express Yourself’.

The school took part in Children’s Mental Health Week, holding events around the themes of well-being and diversity. As well as learning in class about the subject, children were invited to go to school in clothes that said something about them.

Some children attended in costumes as their favourite characters, others in clothes to do with their hobbies and some about what they like to do at home.

School head Gary Tucker was pleased with how well the events went. “The children are always welcoming to visitors and newcomers,” he said. “This event, along with our work on improving the mental health curriculum has been a joy to witness.”

He added: “Children are so sensible, discussing a wide range of topics and recognising that being different is a good thing.”

Reflecting on her experience of the event, pupil Imogen Nurton said: “It has been a special day celebrating difference and showing we care and respect others. We showed that by dressing to express.”
