FIRE crews, police and an ambulance were called to premises in Fore Street, Williton, at 8am this morning after smoke had been reported and there was no response from residents.

Crews from Minehead and Williton were at first unable to confirm whether the property was occupied. Police were asked to monitor traffic and an ambulance was called due to the possibility of casualties

A Devon and Somerset spokesman later confirmed that there was no threat to life. The ambulance stood down and fire crews used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a safety jet to deal with a small blaze which was caused by a chopping board bein left on the top of an oven.
