Fire crews have been battling a barn blaze through the night at a farm in Stringston.

Cattle were removed and taken to a safe place as fire crews – from 15 stations – battled through the night to put out the flames when a barn caught fire in Stringston.

The barn containing 300 bales of hay was reported to be on fire at 8.42pm yesterday (August 22) and the incident was still live at 11.49am.

Numerous calls were received from members of the public who had spotted large clouds of smoke. Fire crews started tackling the blaze with four pumps but this was increased to six plus water carriers for personnel and additional water.

At 9.40pm, the scene was ‘sectorised’ and crews were at work protecting surrounding buildings. 

At 1:20am, the incident was scaled back to three pumping appliances with crews working in three sectors on watching briefs and expectng relief crews in the morning. According to the latest update, the incident is still ongoing.
