WATCHET town crier David Milton and members of the town’s traditional Court Leet - including its ale-taster - led the celebrations when the 400-year-old Star Inn was officially re-opened last Saturday after devastating flash floods had closed it for 18 months.
The massive deluge engulfed the pub in August 2020 and within 15 minutes it was under two feet of water.
Welcoming back a capacity crowd of customers, owner Ross Nuttycombe said that putting everything on hold had meant he missed last summer’s trade. “But now the work is complete it’s full steam ahead and we have high hopes for the future,” he said.
