FIRE broke out in a bungalow in West Quantoxhead at around 6.25am today, causing serious damage.

Three fire engines from Nether Stowey and Minehead were first on the scene and the crews set about ensuring that no-one was trapped inside. All people were accounted for following a search through the property, however an ambulance was called

An aerial ladder platform and water carrier from Bridgwater were also mobilised along with a further two fire appliances from Bridgwater and a command support unit from Wiveliscombe

Western Power is investigating the cause, believed to have been electrical.

After the fire had been extinguished crews continued to search the property to ensure there was no spread, particularly in the roof area.

There was 50 per cent smoke and heat damage to the entrance hall and a further 50 per cent to the rest of the single-storey property.
