FIREFIGHTERS had to remove a car roof to release a woman trapped in her vehicle following a two-car collision on the A358 near Crowcombe yesterday evening (Tuesday).

Crews from Nether Stowey and Williton used hydraulic cutting equipment to free the driver who, with another occupant of the car, was taken to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.

An ambulance service spokesman confirmed that both were allowed to go home after being treated for minor injuries.
