A TRAPPED driver had to be cut from a vehicle by firefighters when two cars and a lorry were involved in a crash near Washford Cross this morning.

Teams from Minehead and Williton joined ambulance crews at the scene, east of the A39 roundabout, which caused long tailbacks of traffic towards Williton and Washford.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “One person was trapped in a car and was extricated by using cutters and spreaders.

“The casualty was taken by ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, with a head injury which was not thought to be life-threatening.”

The road was closed for an hour while recovery and safety checks were in progress.
