MINEHEAD will be getting its own Christmas star later today (Friday) when pop heart-throb Jimmy Constable switches on the town's festive lights.
Jimmy, who had a string of hits with 90s boy band 911, will add his own touch of sparkle to the festivities, which have been organised by Minehead Town Council's entertainments committee with support from the town's chamber of trade.
Entertainment starts at 4.30pm, with the switch-on itself due to take place outside the town hall at 6pm.
Butlins' chief Julian Highfield was due to switch on the lights but had to pull out for a business commitment.

"It is just the 'little bit extra' the town needs for the big switch on."
More shopkeepers, eating houses and pubs than ever before will be joining in the party atmosphere, which this year includes a sponsored charity pig roast in Wellington Square.
Mr Kravis said "All our businesses approach the evening with a total party atmosphere.
"Minehead is a unique town having a very high number of independent traders and we love the idea of giving something back to the community."
The Parade and a number of other roads will be closed to motorists during the evening.
