MORE than a foot of rain fell on Porlock Hill during October, according to local statistician David Westcott.
He has been recording the rainfall at the Birchanger station for the last 40 years, and his October statistics noted a total of 395 millimetres of rain - or 151/2 inches.
Last week, Mr Westcott contacted the Free Press to report that a staggering 118mm of rain - well over four inches - had fallen during the storms of last Sunday night alone.
His records for the month also revealed that there were only four days in the whole month when it did not rain at all.
