Watchet pipped in friendly with Bishops Lydeard

By in Football

WATCHET lost their derby away to Bishops Lydeard on Tuesday 3-2 in a keenly contested pre-season friendly.

The visitors were slightly fortunate to go in only 1-0 down at the interval to a goal scored on the stroke of half-time, but they gave a much better account of themselves after the break.

Jamie Milton levelled the scores with a penalty but missed a second spot kick minutes later, then a neat exchange of passes between Tom Sparks and Aaron Deeks led to the latter putting Watchet in front.

But after Sparks had poked the ball wide in a one on one, Lydeard were soon back on terms and went on to win the game with a late goal as the visitors tired.

The Red & Blacks wind up their practice matches on Tuesday at the Richard Huish College in Taunton against Western League Premier Division side Wellington (kick-off 7pm).
