WATCHET Twinning Society enjoyed its bi-annual visit to its twin town of St Renan in Brittany.
Members were given a warm welcome on arrival and several visits had been arranged, including a cactus farm, a honey producer and a refurbished marine engineering factory which had been converted into a communal project.
The main visit was to a project creating huge statues - some more than five metres tall - of various Brittany saints, involving sculptors from France and the UK. They have been erected on a hillside site, each facing their own particular parish.
The visit ended with a grand civic meal at which the mayor of St Renan spoke of the benefits of twinning for people of all ages.
The society’s next event is the annual French Breakfast at the Phoenix Centre next Saturday morning (July 22). Anyone who would like to know more about twinning is welcome to go along.
