Minehead Merlins on mountain bikes

By in Cycling

THE second mountain bike race in the Minehead Merlins’ Webbers Post series on June 23 saw 42 riders enjoy a selection of challenging courses set by Alicia Hockin.

From three-year-olds on balance bikes up to fast moving teens, the races were all hotly contended.

Morgan Wild won the under 10s race with Kiran Sparks second and Luke Reeder third - all three are from the Merlins and showed the benefits of the recent mountain bike coaching sessions with the club.

The club’s William Dibble was second in the under 14s race, while the youngest Merlin was Jasmin Grainger on her tiny bike.

With riders from Devon club Taw Velo and Quantock Quick riders taking part, the event is growing with every round and hopefully there will be even more riders at the third races in the series this evening - sign on at 5.30pm at Webbers Post.
