JOHN Irven has resigned from the board of the West Somerset Railway after three years as chairman, it was announced this week.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with the railway over the past five years,” he told the Free Press.
“I am only leaving because I need to manage my involvement in a growing range of activities and to maintain a balance between home-life and outside interests.”
Mr Irven will continue as vice-chairman and deputy mayor of Watchet Town Council and director of Watchet Coastal Community CIC.
A WSR spokesman said vice-chairman Ian Coleby would take over until the board could elect a new chairman.
