WEST Somerset. Squash Club held its annual awards dinner at the Britannia Inn in Alcombe - the culmination of one of the most successful seasons the club has ever had.
The first team won Division Two of the Somerset League and the second team were runners up in Division Foufr, and the first team went on to win the Somerset Cup by beating Division One champions Merriott from Yeovil.
The Junior section were also busy, with Samir Abraham and William Hawker both selected for Richard Huish College’s team which won through to the Under 19 National Schools finals at the National Squash Centre in Manchester.
The player of the year award went to Harry Saunders-Singer, who was unbeaten in all league and cup matches, and the most improved player was Luke Howells, who was in the top five most improved players in England.
The second team player of the year was Samir Abraham, who scored more points than any other player in the team.
Tribute was also paid to Sam Price, who worked tirelessly to develop playing standards and captained the team throughout the long season. He was named clubman of the year.
The club are now looking forward playing on their newly refurbished courts and would welcome more female members.
