POLICE, coastguards, lifeboats, an ambulance and a helicopter crew were involved in a massive sea and land search after a man was reported missing from Butlin’s, Minehead, on Monday night.
RNLI operations manager Dr John Higgie said both the Minehead station’s lifeboats were launched just before midnight after the alarm was raised over the missing man, who has not been named.
“We searched the bay, assisted by a police helicopter, but nothing was found and we stood down at 1am but were called out again at 7am on Tuesday until 8.30am, when the search was called off.”
It is believed that searchers were alerted by clothes found on the slopes of North Hill.
A police spokesman confirmed that the missing man was later found alive near Greenaleigh Farm, but no further details were released.
