WEST Somerset Council unanimously re-elected Cllrs Bruce Heywood and Rosemary Woods as chairman and vice-chairman of at its annual meeting yesterday.

Members also approved the re-election of Cllr Anthony Trollope-Bellew as council leader and performance and support lead and Cllr Mandy Chilcott as his deputy and lead member for resources and central support. Thanking members for electing him for a second term, Cllr Heywood said it had been a memorable and enjoyable year with many challenges ahead. Cllr Karen Mills, who stood down from the council’s cabinet as lead member for regeneration and economic growth, thanked members and officers for their support and wished good luck to her successor, Cllr Andrew Hadley. Cllr Hugh Davies resigned from the licensing committee and was replaced by Cllr Terry Venner.
