MINEHEAD and Watchet organisations are pulling out the stops to mark Dementia Awareness Week, a national campaign run by the Alzheimer’s Society, from Saturday to Friday, May 13-20.
The Rotary Club of Minehead and The Quantocks, Watchet area and Minehead Dementia Action Alliances and Reminiscence Learning are all involved.
In Minehead, a series of events will be held at the Regal Theatre, The Avenue Methodist Church Hall and the Old Hospital – where the week’s launch is at 11.30am on Saturday with music, information and donation boxes on the forecourt.
Posters will be outside premises including the Old Hospital and the Methodist Church advertising other events, all of which are open to the public.
Watchet Area Dementia Action Alliance will be celebrating its second birthday with a party and sing-along with Dave Milton at the Forget-Me-Not Café in The Sanctuary between 10.30am and midday on Wednesday (May 17).
The WDAA will also have an information stall on The Esplanade on Wednesday.
And on Saturday there will be a celebration coffee morning with cakes, plants, cards and bric-a-brac in the Methodist Schoolroom, in Harbour Road, from 10.30am.
