Unite helps the Food Cupboard as Easter approaches

ORGANISERS of West Somerset Food Cupboard received a cheque for £500 from the Unite Union last week – just in time for Easter, one of the charity’s busiest times of the year.

Members of the local union read about the charity in the Free Press when previous co-ordinator Christine Payne retired, and decided to support its work.

“This is a very generous donation and will really help us in our support of vulnerable families, especially as we come up to the Easter holiday,” said Ann Gibbs, new co-ordinator of the West Somerset Food Cupboard.

“This is one of our busier times of the year and it’s always nice to be able to add a few seasonal treats for children in our Easter boxes if we can.”
