MINEHEAD Under 12s enjoyed a 6-0 win at home to Ashcott Buffaloes, showing no signs of being rusty after a three-week lay-off because of cancellations.
After just two minutes, good passing between Callum Locke and Bailee Edwards resulted in a ball through to Tommy Robinson who chipped it over the keeper for the opening goal.
Five minutes later Thomas Humphries, making his debut, played a good ball to Scott Kivell and he set up Harvey Lovell who also chipped the keeper to make it 2-0.
Ashcott fought back and won the first corner of the game, but it was volleyed wide, then at the other end Lovell’s shot from a Jackson cross was saved by the keeper but Lovell hammered in the rebound.
After the re-start, Jackson made a good run down the wing but was tackled and the ball went out for Minehead’s first corner, which Kivell took and found Lovell for him to head home and complete his hat-trick.
The first half scoring was completed by Locke with his first goal for the side after exchanging passes with Edwards.
Ashcott fared better in the second half, attacking well, but the only goal went to Minehead when a cross by Will Summersgill was touched in by an Ashcott defender.
