AN award-winning West Somerset real ale brewery which went into administration last month has been rescued by a mystery investor and now plans to expand into new markets.
The rescue package has secured the future of Bishops Lydeard’s ten-year-old Quantock Brewery after weeks of uncertainty, according to sales manager Mike Rigby.
“We’ve had a close shave but now we can keep going and expand,” he said.
He said the new investment company, which had asked not to be named, was not local but had seen that the brewery had potential for growth and improvement.
Mr Rigby added that the rescue package would not only secure the jobs of the six employees at the company’s Broadgauge Business Park brewery but will lead to more workers being taken on to operate a new bottling plant.
